Civil Air Patrol STEM Camp

Launch rockets. Build circuits. Learn to code and more!

Join UE and Civil Air Patrol for a week full of hands-on STEM experiences! Students in grades 3-8 will have the opportunity to attend this camp on either June 24-28 or July 8-12. STEM is a very expansive field with a wealth of opportunities, and this week-long activity is an outstanding way for youth in the community to dive into STEM, learn about the various facets of the field, and engage with STEM kits and experiences. If you are unfamiliar, "STEM" is an acronym for "Science, Technology, Engineering, and Math." So, what will your student be experiencing during the camp? Let's break it down!

In total, STEM is an educational approach that allows students to exercise and build on their problem-solving skills and develop critical thinking skills.

Science: explore and discover how things work in the world around us

Technology: utilizing and learning about machines and technological tools and how they're used

Engineering: Using creativity, imagination, and knowledge to create solutions to both simple and complex problems

Math: Using cognitive abilities, formulas, and numbers to "solve a puzzle"

In addition, members of Civil Air Patrol, an all-volunteer organization and the auxiliary of the US Air Force, will be present at the camp leading your student through a series of STEM kits. Civil Air Patrol members can join the Cadet Program as early as 12 years old. As a cadet, members have the unique opportunity to build leadership skills, develop their character, pursue their passions, and form lifelong friendships. Moreover, cadets can attend and staff summer activities like a week-long summer camp, commonly termed "encampment," attend flight school (if they are interested in becoming a pilot), leadership schools, travel to new heights and connect with like-minded youth, and much more!

Most importantly, Civil Air Patrol members are very familiar with the STEM Kits that will be utilized during this camp! Your student will, undoubtedly, have an awesome experience at the camp with the aid of Civil Air Patrol and the University of Evansville.
