What to expect in an emergency

In the event of an emergency, please continue to check this page for updates. Details included on this page during an emergency will include:

  • Information and updates about the nature of the emergency
  • Steps being taken to address the emergency
  • Current status, with cumulative chronology
  • Any necessary instructions for the University community

In any emergency, UE's chief priority will be the safety of students, faculty, staff and affected community members. Other priorities include the mitigation of damage; communication with members of the University community; and recovery and restoration of academic and administrative operations.

The UE Office of Public Safety office maintains 24-hour, seven-day-a-week coverage of the main campus. Security duties include patrol, security of physical assets, and safety of all employees, students, and guests of the campus. In addition, all security staff are trained in first aid and other emergency procedures. Visit the Public Safety web page for additional and more details on Emergency Situation Procedures.

How to ensure that you'll receive emergency alerts

University of Evansville has implemented an emergency campus alert system that can contact thousands of individuals within minutes if there is an urgent situation or crisis. During critical events, UE will use the RAVE Guardian Ace Alerts System to deliver advisories and instructions to students, faculty, staff and others via cell phones, text messages, email and other communication devices. All student, faculty and staff UE email addresses have been loaded on the system, as have phone numbers for all University-owned landlines and cell phones.

UE students, faculty and staff can use their personal cell phone number to enable UE to reach them in the event of an emergency. Personal cell phone numbers will only be used by authorized personnel for emergencies or official business. You may sign up for alerts online.
