Danielle Williams

Collection Development / Electronic Resource / Professor

Growing up, Danielle Williams always understood that she should go to college. Although she was supported by her parents to attend, she didn't think it would be affordable. With loans and grants, she was motivated to learn more and achieve her dreams. Now she has fulfilled that goal, as she does research in her work and gets to help students conduct their own.

Danielle was initially fearful about college, but she loved her classes, learning, and the library. “Everything about college was wonderful, from moving out to buying my own groceries,” Danielle said. “I figured everything out on my own and made a lot of mistakes along the way. But I'm a quick learner, and I overcame and never gave up.” While her family couldn't help with specific issues, they were encouraging and supportive.

“Ask for help.” That's the piece of advice Danielle would share with current Aces. “Whether you need help figuring out finances, class schedules, or buying food, ask for help. If you don't have a support structure when you start, we will help. It's hard to keep going at times, but it's so worth it.”

While larger universities may maintain a distance, Danielle loves that UE takes an interest in each student's life. “We've all been where you are, but the best part is that the faculty and staff truly care about you,” she says.
