Important Coronavirus (COVID-19) Update

Dear Campus Community,

Our Coronavirus Healthcare Task Force has been monitoring the pandemic at the local, state, and national levels since it began just over two years ago. We have taken CDC guidance and available data into consideration when developing all health and safety guidelines. Given the latest updates, we face the future unafraid with great hope for normalcy in the coming months. This is reflected in the changes to our guidelines, included below.

  • Effective Monday, March 21, our mask mandate will be lifted. Masks and face coverings will now be optional for all spaces; those who prefer to continue wearing face coverings are encouraged to do so.
  • Effective Monday, March 21, all indoor restrictions will be lifted. This means we will no longer have seating capacities or distance requirements for indoor events.
  • Outdoor restrictions were lifted on February 24. There are no attendance limits or ticketing requirements for outdoor events.
  • We have made adjustments to our 2022 Commencement as well. Masks will not be required, there will be no distancing requirements, and we will offer unlimited seating for guests (no tickets).

We will always utilize the latest CDC guidance and data, so should there be any changes to the pandemic, necessary restrictions may be reinstated.

UE continues to encourage vaccinations and boosters for the campus community, and you can do so by making an appointment today. These are readily available at local healthcare facilities (e.g. Ascension St. Vincent and Deaconess) and retailers (e.g. CVS, Meijer, Walmart, Target).

We include this often in our communication, but we once again thank you for your commitment to keeping our campus community safe. We are appreciative of your patience and understanding over the course of these last two years.

Sincerely,

Coronavirus Healthcare Task Force
