Small classes, a friendly environment and passionate professors are the first things that come to mind when someone asks me about the University of Evansville. UE provides students with exceptional educational experiences and the ability and confidence to succeed in life. I am majoring in accounting, and all of my professors are amazing. They not only are passionate about their teaching but also have experience working as accountants, therefore, they teach us based on their real-life experiences not just theories. I also attend Accounting Club, where we meet a lot of professional accountants, and begin to understand their experiences. Many of them are UE alumni, who have achieved high positions and inform us of their experiences. Meeting them helps me learn how to stand apart from other accountants in the job search and professional environment. Professors also advise us to take the CPA exam. Additionally, UE has a great setup for career preparation and placement. Every experience I have had at UE is remarkable. Attending the University of Evansville is one of the best decisions that I have ever made.

  • Major: Political Science
  • Country: China

Here at UE, the academic environment shapes my intellectual outcomes through challenging courses and collaborative professors. This is critical for my future success.

Although I am a political science major, I have the opportunity to take liberal arts and science courses like chemistry, law, music, and foreign language. Having an understanding of other elements of education is necessary in expanding my general knowledge. From the beginning, my professors at UE have challenged me, and they have also provided me with the guidance necessary to succeed.

My involvement in different clubs at UE has broadened my horizon and worldviews. Participating in different clubs makes UE a special place. Through these activities, I am able to share my culture while learning about others. Sometimes balancing my time between clubs and class can be challenging, but I learned the skill of time management.

My love for music, especially singing, has been further propelled by amazing professors who endlessly offer help and advice whenever I need it. Some go beyond what a professor is required to do, and I am more than thankful that these professors are here for me. University Choir and Kantorei are the two major ensembles that I am in. These are great platforms for students to showcase their talents, as well as to learn to work closely as part of a team. We also get opportunities to perform off-campus, sometimes in professional groups, to prepare ourselves for the future.

Because of UE’s teacher-student ratio, we get more attention from our professors, enhancing our learning experience. I also appreciate the diversity that we have on campus and the support we get from our international coordinators, who make UE feel like home away from home. Thanks to UE, the people I've met, some I'd call friends for life, have all contributed in making my study abroad experience great.

  • Major: Civil Engineering with a Minor in Engineering Management
  • Country: Vietnam

My UE experience was challenging, supportive, and transformative. The further I progress in my career as an engineer, the more I appreciate that experience. In terms of technical training, UE meets the gold standard set by the nationally recognized Accreditation Board for Engineering and Technology (ABET). Being a graduate from an ABET-certified engineering program allowed me to later sit in for the Professional Engineering (PE) exam and obtain the highly-sought after PE license in 2016.

A major highlight from my UE experience was the support of the civil engineering faculty. Having been at a large public university with 23,400 students in total enrollment, I can testify that the availability of faculty members and their hands-on instructional methods to undergraduate students at UE are truly unique. While undergraduate students from other programs must settle with getting help from teaching assistants and lecturers, UE civil engineering students have all the attention of tenured and tenure-tracked faculty. Only students at institutions with smaller class sizes such as UE can afford that privilege.

Another aspect of the UE experience that cannot be overlooked is the Honors Program. Going through the program as an engineering major is challenging, because you are required to go above and beyond an already rigorous curriculum. However, I learned to appreciate the experience when I applied for graduate school and later became a PhD student. Graduate school centers around researching, publishing, and defending your work, a process that all Honors Program graduates from UE must go through. Having been published as an undergraduate student certainly boosted my confidence in conducting research at the graduate-level.

One of the best college experiences an international student can ever ask for, UE encompasses all the qualities of a well rounded educational experience. Personally the small class sizes and personalized attention from professors is what drew me to UE. Besides the fact that the staff, students and faculty were very warm and welcoming right from my first day- the case based approach to my business education and real world experience in starting my own business while in college proved to be invaluable assets to me. UE sets you up for success from day one when you meet students and faculty from all across the world in such a personalized setting. At UE you are not just a number but are rather assisted every step of the way in your career. You build an extensive network of such accomplished alums across the world along with their mentorship. UE's international community and its focus on inter cultural exchange is unmatched. I was also fortunate to participate in the international student-family program and met my host family here who have become an extension of my family in the US. I shall forever be indebted to my professors and friends at UE for making my college journey so rewarding.
