Desktop Support Coordinator
The University of Evansville is seeking a Desktop Support Coordinator to join our dynamic campus IT team. This full-time, on-site position offers the opportunity to work hands-on across our beautiful campus, providing critical technology support that helps power our academic mission.
Position Overview:
In this role, you will deliver front-line technical support for faculty, staff, and students, ensuring smooth operation of technology in classrooms, labs, offices, and across campus facilities. From troubleshooting workstations to supporting classroom AV systems, this position combines technical expertise with a strong customer service mindset.
Key Responsibilities:
- Provide front-line support for faculty and staff: troubleshoot hardware, software, printer, and general workstation issues
- Support and maintain classroom and lab technology: projectors, AV systems, instructional computers
- Respond to service requests via the campus ticketing system; document resolutions clearly and consistently
- Assist students with basic tech issues: access, connectivity, and device troubleshooting
- Install, configure, and update software across university workstations in collaboration with the IT team
- Track and document technology assets with precision and care
- Perform physical support tasks: equipment setup, lifting (up to 40 lbs), ladder use, and travel between buildings
Preferred Experience:
- 1+ year of IT support experience in a professional or academic setting
- 1+ year of customer service experience, preferably in a technical support role
Technical Skills:
- Proficient with Windows and macOS
- Familiar with mobile platforms (iOS/iPadOS and Android)
- Basic networking knowledge; able to troubleshoot connected devices
- Experience with classroom technology, AV systems, smart boards, etc.
- Skilled in software installation, configuration, and updates
Interpersonal & Organizational Skills:
- Excellent written and verbal communication; able to explain tech issues clearly to non-technical users
- Strong time management and prioritization skills; able to work independently when needed
- High attention to detail in documenting work and managing inventory
Certifications (Preferred, Not Required):
- CompTIA A+
- Microsoft Certified Desktop Support Technician (MCDST)
- Equivalent technical certifications or training
Physical Requirements:
Ability to lift up to 40 lbs, climb ladders, and move equipment between buildings
This role requires mobility across campus and frequent hands-on work—not a desk-bound position
