Assistant Vice President for Admission

Position Overview

The Assistant Vice President (AVP) for Admission is a strategic and collaborative enrollment leader responsible for directing undergraduate and graduate admission efforts at the University of Evansville. Reporting directly to the Vice President for Enrollment and Marketing, the AVP plays a critical role in shaping and achieving enrollment goals that support the University’s mission and long-term vision. The AVP provides leadership across talented undergraduate and graduate admission teams, cultivates campus-wide partnerships, and brings an innovative, data-informed mindset to recruitment strategy development and execution.

The AVP plays a key role in leading strategy and fostering a culture that blends excellence with humor, hustle with heart, and hard work with shared joy. The AVP works closely with fellow directors, senior leaders, and partners across campus to sustain momentum in undergraduate enrollment and accelerate growth in graduate, transfer, and adult student populations.

Top Priorities in the First Year

1. Provide insight and leadership on organizational structure, staffing, capabilities, and resources to enhance graduate enrollment performance.

2. Sustain and enhance the trajectory of undergraduate enrollment growth.

3. Improve outreach and recruitment strategies for transfer and adult learners.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities

  • Foster a culture of positivity, innovation, humor, and excellence within the admission teams and across cross-functional partnerships.
  • Help shape and execute enrollment strategy, partnering closely with the VPEM to co-lead the bi-annual Strategic Enrollment Management (SEM) planning process and advance institutional goals.
  • Prepare annual undergraduate and graduate recruitment plans and ensure Key Performance Indicators (KPIs) are met.
  • Supervise and support the admission leadership team, ensuring accountability for plan execution, staff development, and performance outcomes.
  • Serve as a compelling public representative of the university at recruitment events, presentations, and high-profile engagements.
  • Oversee admission budgets, assess resource needs, and evaluate efficiency and effectiveness of resource use.
  • Manage relationships with external partners and vendors to ensure operational efficiency and impact.
  • Analyze admission data and enrollment trends to inform strategy, improve yield, and optimize the recruitment funnel across diverse student populations.
  • Provide strategic support to marketing staff for graduate and undergraduate programs.
  • Collaborate with academic deans, faculty, marketing, financial aid, and student services to support enrollment and recruitment initiatives and enhance the student recruitment experience.
  • Champion initiatives that expand transfer, adult, and graduate student recruitment pipelines.

Qualifications

Required:

  • Bachelor’s degree required.
  • Minimum of 5 years of progressive leadership experience (director level or higher) in higher education admission or enrollment management.
  • Demonstrated success in developing and executing effective recruitment strategies, with particular strength in graduate enrollment and familiarity with undergraduate processes.
  • Exceptional public speaking and communication skills, with the ability to motivate and inspire diverse audiences.
  • Strong analytical skills with the ability to interpret data and translate insights into actionable strategies.
  • Proven ability to build relationships across campus and lead through influence.
  • A leadership style that blends confidence with humility and approachability.

Preferred:

  • Master’s degree or higher.
  • Experience in a small, private university setting.
  • Familiarity with CRM systems and enrollment technologies, Slate preferred.

Physical Demands

  • Visual and auditory acuity with speaking and hearing ability sufficient for headset/phone usage and conversations.
  • Manual dexterity sufficient for work on a computer.
  • Ability to stand or sit, in alternating fashion, for long periods of time.
  • Ability to lift and carry up to 25 pounds, on occasion.
  • Ability to travel to work functions out-of-state, when needed.

Travel Required

Periodic travel required, up to 15%.
