Head Softball Coach

The University of Evansville, a member of the Missouri Valley Conference and NCAA Division I, invites applications for the position of Head Softball Coach. This full-time position is responsible for leading all aspects of the University’s softball program and fostering a competitive and positive environment that supports the academic, athletic, and personal development of student-athletes.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Plan and conduct practices that promote team development and individual growth
  • Scout and recruit prospective student-athletes to build and sustain a competitive program
  • Manage program budget and award athletic scholarships
  • Collaborate with Development to engage alumni and raise funds for program enhancements
  • Oversee training and conditioning programs in conjunction with support staff
  • Ensure compliance with all University, Missouri Valley Conference, and NCAA rules and regulations
  • Hire, supervise, and evaluate assistant coaches and program staff
  • Serve as a mentor and role model to student-athletes, emphasizing academic success, leadership, and personal development
  • Maintain positive relationships with alumni, media, and University stakeholders
  • Perform other duties as assigned by the Director of Athletics

Required Qualifications:

  • Knowledge of softball fundamentals, strategy, and NCAA rules
  • Excellent organizational, leadership, and communication skills
  • Ability to interact effectively with student-athletes, coaches, faculty, staff, and the general public
  • First Aid, CPR, and AED certification (or ability to obtain prior to employment)
  • Availability to work evenings, weekends, and travel as required

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Collegiate and/or professional playing or coaching experience
  • Demonstrated success in recruiting, player development, and competitive achievement
  • Experience in fundraising and community engagement
