Library Associate for Access Services/Evening Supervisor

The University of Evansville invites applications for the Library Associate for Access Services – Evening Supervisor. This full-time staff position plays a vital role in the daily operations of the Libraries, providing a blend of public service and technical support, with a primary focus on supervising circulation services and student staff during evening hours.

Key Responsibilities

Public Services & Circulation

  • Supervise and support the Information Desk and circulation transactions
  • Provide assistance to students, faculty, and staff regarding circulation policies and services
  • Manage reserve materials, verify user eligibility, and assist with reference and directional questions
  • Communicate with patrons regarding overdue, missing, or recalled materials

Student Supervision

  • Recruit, train, schedule, and supervise Access Services student employees
  • Conduct beginning-of-semester training and provide ongoing support
  • Oversee student payroll processing and complete end-of-semester evaluations

Technical & Equipment Support

  • Assist with basic interlibrary loan activities and access services procedures
  • Perform routine maintenance and minor repairs on departmental and Learning Commons equipment
  • Monitor and order supplies and forms as needed

Stacks Oversight

  • Supervise shelving and shelf-reading of general collection materials
  • Ensure accuracy and organization in library stacks with the help of student workers

Facility & Security Responsibilities

  • Secure and close the Libraries Sunday through Thursday evenings
  • Serve as the senior staff member on duty when no librarian is present
  • Enforce library policies, monitor the building, and respond to emergencies with assistance from supervisors or campus security

Other Duties

  • Participate in library projects and complete additional tasks as assigned by supervisors
  • Receive training and ongoing support from degreed library professionals

Minimum Qualifications

  • Two years of advanced education (Associate or Bachelor’s degree preferred)
  • Customer service experience
  • Strong computer skills (e.g., word processing, spreadsheets, databases)
  • Excellent attention to detail and accuracy
  • Ability to work independently and organize workload effectively
  • Basic troubleshooting and maintenance of office/library equipment
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills

Preferred Qualifications

  • Supervisory experience
  • Library experience

Work Schedule

Fall & Spring Semesters: Sunday–Thursday, 3:15 PM – 12:15 AM

Summer & Intersession Breaks: Alternate schedule required
