Why did you choose to attend UE?
I wanted to go to a smaller and more personal school that was far away from my hometown. Once I visited campus for Scholar Day, I met so many kind and incredible people (one of them being my current roommate and best friend). I know it’s corny, but it truly felt like home when I came here for the first time.
What activities or organizations have you been involved with at UE? How have these impacted you and your college career?
I am an Orientation Leader, and while I wasn’t expecting to do something like this coming into college, I am incredibly grateful for this opportunity. It has helped me immensely in building my confidence and has given me so many skills that have helped me grow as a person. I have also held executive positions in other organizations that have helped me more in my leadership development.
What makes UE a special place? How did our campus shape your college experience?
It really is personal here. With smaller class sizes, you really get to know your peers and professors and vice versa. With that, your professors WANT to get to know you and I find that to be incredibly important in my learning journey as it makes me feel that I am far more than just a number. You can tell by the people alone that the culture in this campus has been carefully built and I couldn’t be more grateful to contribute to that!
What advice would you share with incoming students?
Even if you’re intimidated and feel that you aren’t capable of certain things, I want you to push yourself to the edge of your comfort zone. Everyone coming in is in the same boat as you, trying to find their groove and where they fit. You never get anywhere by standing still, so go. Make the most of your time.
Why do you recommend the University of Evansville?
I feel like not only do the people curate the amazing culture here, but the enrichment of education that I feel I have been absorbing is absolutely incredible. Every professor I’ve had, I can feel the passion they have for what they are doing. The professors here really care about their students and about their craft— wanting to pass down the information they know to the many students who come here.
