Student Classifications and Application Requirements

Application requirements vary based on a variety of factors, including whether or not you've previously taken college courses, how many credit hours you have, and how long you've been out of high school. Take a look at the classification types below to determine what most sounds like you. Once you've determined your classification, you're ready to start your Application for Admission.

You have graduated from high school or received a GED and have enrolled at a college or university, regardless of credit hours earned (except students who meet the classification of Transfer First-Year).

Application Requirements:
  • Required – official college transcript(s) from every post-secondary school you have attended (minimum cumulative GPA of 2.5)
  • Optional* – official final high school transcript showing date of graduation or official high school equivalency (HSE) certificate such as GED or TASC is accepted when applicable (*required for students with less than 24 college credit hours)
  • Optional* – SAT or ACT score (*Nursing majors are required to have either an ACT score of 22 or above, or SAT-R score of 1100 or above taken within the last 5 years OR complete the ATI TEAS test and achieve proficiency level.)
  • Optional – personal statement or letter of recommendation

Note: Transcripts must be OFFICIAL, meaning signed and stamped as official and sent from your school(s) directly to the UE Office of Admission. Those which are stamped “issued to student” are not acceptable. Transcripts may be sent in a variety of ways including:

  1. Emailed to admission@evansville.edu from a school’s registrar or a transcript service such as Parchment or National Student Clearinghouse.
  2. Mailed via postal mail to the University of Evansville Office of Admission at 1800 Lincoln Avenue, Evansville, IN 47722.

If English is not your primary language or language of instruction from high school or college, you will be asked to submit proof of English proficiency such as a TOEFL, IELTS, SAT, ACT, Duolingo, GTEC score.

You have graduated from high school and attended a college or university the fall semester immediately following high school graduation and you intend to transfer to UE for the spring semester.

Application Requirements:
  • Required – official final high school transcript showing date of graduation or official high school equivalency (HSE) certificate such as GED or TASC
  • Required (upon completion of the fall semester) – official college transcript
  • Optional* – SAT or ACT score (*Nursing majors are required to have either an ACT score of 22 or above, or SAT-R score of 1100 or above taken within the last 5 years OR complete the ATI TEAS test and achieve proficiency level.)
  • Optional – personal statement or letter of recommendation

You have already earned a bachelor’s degree and intend to earn an additional bachelor’s degree.

You attended the University of Evansville, withdrew before completing a degree, and wish to return. To determine next steps, please contact Academic Services at academicservices@evansville.edu or 812-488-2600. They will assess your record and the amount of time you’ve been away and help you on the fastest path to reentry. Students who have been away from the University two semesters or more must apply for re-entry admission through the Office of Admission.

You wish to take courses but do not intend to earn a degree at the University of Evansville. The following types of students qualify as non-degree special students:

  • Visiting Transient Students
    Students from other colleges and universities who wish to take courses at UE but plan to graduate from their “home” institution.

  • College Graduate Students
    Students who have a college degree but need additional undergraduate credit to earn special licensing or to prepare for graduate school admission.

  • Non-traditional Students
    Non-degree-seeking students who wish to take courses for personal enrichment or college credit.
