NewsLab Coordinator

The Evansville NewsLab (ENL) seeks a dynamic and mission-driven NewsLab Coordinator to play a central role in advancing our commitment to community-centered journalism. This full-time position bridges students, journalists, community members, and institutional partners to support meaningful, collaborative storytelling that amplifies underrepresented voices.

Key Responsibilities:

1. Program Coordination

  • Coordinate communication and workflow between ENL, students, and community/media partners.
  • Ensure student integration in all appropriate aspects of project planning and implementation.
  • Assist with logistics for workshops, classes, and special projects.
  • Maintain project calendars, administrative records, and timelines.

2. Community Outreach & Engagement

  • Serve as ENL’s public representative, building relationships across the Evansville community.
  • Plan and lead listening sessions, focus groups, and storytelling events.
  • Foster trust and collaboration with historically marginalized communities.
  • Gather and share feedback to shape content strategies and community narratives.

3. Partnership Development

  • Collaborate with Our Times and other media partners to ensure aligned, impactful efforts.
  • Support development of partnerships with civic groups, nonprofits, and educational institutions.
  • Facilitate planning and communication across organizations.

4. Communications & Fundraising Support

  • Support internal and external communication efforts, including newsletters and social media.
  • Assist in fundraising and grant development efforts as needed.

Qualifications:

Required:

  • Strong communication, relationship-building, and organizational skills.
  • Passion for equity, civic engagement, and inclusive storytelling.
  • Experience working with diverse populations in community engagement or outreach.
  • Ability to manage multiple projects and collaborate across teams.

Preferred:

  • Background in journalism, nonprofit, education, or community organizing.
  • Familiarity with Evansville’s communities and media ecosystem.
  • Grant writing or fundraising experience.
  • Proficiency with tools such as Google Workspace, Airtable, Mailchimp, Canva, etc.
