Public Safety Officer
The University of Evansville invites applications for the position of Public Safety Officer/Dispatcher within the Office of Public Safety. This vital role supports the University’s commitment to a safe, secure, and welcoming campus environment through both dispatch operations and routine public safety responsibilities. Public Safety Officers are essential members of the campus community and represent the University in daily interactions with students, faculty, staff, and guests.
In this role, you will:
- Serve as a dispatcher by answering emergency and non-emergency calls, monitoring alarm systems, and coordinating officer responses.
- Perform routine security services including campus patrols, building checks, safety escorts, and parking enforcement.
- Assist with investigations, safety inspections, and access control, while completing accurate reports of criminal and non-criminal incidents.
- Collaborate with departments such as Residence Life, Student Affairs, Facilities Management, Counseling Services, and the Community Health Clinic.
- Provide support during weekends, holidays, and university breaks as part of a 24/7 operation.
Qualifications include:
- High school diploma or GED and a valid driver’s license.
- Strong verbal and written communication skills.
- A demonstrated work ethic, ability to collaborate with seasoned officers, and commitment to professionalism.
- Basic proficiency with computer systems and a dedication to serving a diverse university community.
This is a part-time position within a 24/7 department that plays a central role in the safety and well-being of the University of Evansville community.
