Facilities Specialist
The University of Evansville (UE) is seeking a skilled and versatile Facilities Specialist to join our Maintenance team. This hands-on position is critical for supporting campus events, maintaining furnishings, and assisting with general facilities upkeep, including painting and basic carpentry. Key Responsibilities
- The Facilities Specialist will focus on logistics, event support, and general upkeep of campus facilities. Your main duties will include:
- Event and Logistics Support: Deliver and move furniture, fixtures, and equipment (FF&E) used to host campus events. Deliver and set up tables, chairs, and specialized equipment.
- Inventory & Maintenance: Check in, clean, and inventory furniture and equipment. Disassemble and assemble furniture as needed, and perform necessary repairs.
- Material Handling: Load and unload items manually or by utilizing hand trucks, forklifts, pallet jacks, and airless lifts. Operate delivery vehicles and assist with rigging and uncrating items.
- Painting and Surface Repair: Perform surface and project site paint preparation and execute painting work to maintain and repair surfaces of buildings, structures, fixtures, furniture, and equipment.
- Stage Equipment: Maintain, repair, store, and ensure the security of stage equipment.
- General Maintenance & Trades Support: Perform other general carpentry tasks, such as hanging pictures, whiteboards, and signage. Assist skilled maintenance technicians and trades as needed.
- Safety & Environment: Work safely from aerial lifts and elevated platforms of up to 65 feet. Actively practice and enforce personal safety, and be vigilant in identifying and addressing safety or security hazards.
Required Qualifications
- Education: High School diploma or equivalent, or any combination of education, training, or experience that provides the necessary knowledge, skills, and abilities.
- License: Possess a valid driver's license and maintain a driving record that allows you to be/remain certified to operate university vehicles and equipment.
- Skills: Strong interpersonal, communication, and relationship-building skills. Demonstrated ability to promote cooperation, trust, and high-quality workmanship in a service-oriented environment.
- Physical Capability: Ability to perform physical tasks required for the job, including material handling, lifting, and working at various heights.
Preferred Qualifications
- Experience operating forklifts or other mechanical lifts.
- Previous experience in institutional or commercial facilities support, maintenance, or event setup.
