Registrar and Director of Academic Support

The Registrar and Director of Academic Support provides leadership for the Offices of the Registrar and Academic Support Services and is part of the university’s academic leadership team. The Registrar/Director assures that academic policy and standards are implemented related to course enrollment, matriculation, and graduation. He/She is responsible for verifying enrollment data and oversees the gathering and production of management information, interpreting and communicating the information for university officers, directors, and other constituents. The Registrar/Director also directs the Office of Academic Support Services, which includes Academic Advising and Student Retention.

The Registrar and Director of Academic Support reports directly to the Provost and serves on the Academic Cabinet and supervises all staff in the Registrar's and Academic Support offices. The Registrar/Director also serves on or attends university committees in charge of different aspects of the registration and advising processes, including the Curriculum, Commencement, Admission and Standards, and On-line Learning Committees. 

The minimum requirements for the Registrar and Director of Academic Support include a Master’s Degree in any field and at least five years of experience working in a Registrar’s or Academic Advising Office. The following skills and knowledge areas are also essential to the position:

  1. Experience in higher education and academic advising.
  2. Knowledge of transcripts and transfer evaluation
  3. Knowledge of academic structures and curricular models
  4. Knowledge of FERPA and other federal regulations that apply to education and educational records
  5. Able to use student information software and databases
  6. Proven leadership skills and the ability to supervise teams
  7. Strong communication, presentation, and problem-solving skills
