Jr. TASL Scholars Program is a year-round program provided by the Center for Inclusive Excellence and the Office of Youth Programs that focuses on youth 7th-12th grade and strives to equip them with skills crucial to success. The Jr. TASL (Think, Act, Serve, Live) Scholars Program will operate concurrently with our current TASL Scholars Program that is a cohort program our current UE college students. The Jr. TASL Scholars Program requires parent/child commitment and will run September-April during the academic year and will operate as a three-week summer program in July each year.

We strive to involve parents and participant families to participate in this endeavor with their youth participants. We will hold quarterly (four times during the academic year) family engagement breakfast or lunch where parents and families along with their youth participant can come to the University of Evansville campus and enjoy a meal and do activities with UE students and staff. Breakfast or Lunch dates to be determined.

Jr. TASL Scholars will focus on:

  • SELF
    • Self-discovery and how we are contributors to our environment
    • Leadership Skills
    • Life Skills
  • COLLEGE ATTAINMENT
    • Is College Right For Me?
    • How Do I Begin The Process?
      • Finding A College To Fit My Needs
      • Paying For College
  • CAREER READINESS (July only)
    • Employment Preparation
      • Searching for a job
      • Application and Interview Process
      • Etiquette & What It Means To Be Professional
    • College Alternatives
      • Entrepreneurship
      • Job Opportunities
  • FAMILY ENGAGEMENT
    • Quarterly breakfast or lunch invites to campus

This program is designed to meet students where they are academically, mentally, emotionally, and economically to move them into the next phase of their futures while also supporting their community through community service.

The three-week July program will have a weekly fee that is due prior to the beginning of the summer session. Fee will include lunch and snacks daily. Payment plans will be available, and the fee must be paid in full by prior to the program start date. Additional fees may be required for additional summer Jr. TASL Scholars Program activities.

Our goal is to make our youth programs, camps, and conferences accessible to students regardless of their ability to pay. Thanks to generous funding from Lilly Endowment Inc., we can offer financial assistance to students who demonstrate need. If you are interested in receiving Financial Assistance, please complete the Financial Assistance Request Form BEFORE registering. Please allow up to two business days for your request to be processed. Because demand for assistance is great and funds are limited, we encourage parents/guardians to apply early.
