Why did you choose to attend UE?
I wanted to get out my comfort zone and explore without being too far from home. I loved the events and homey space I had seen online.
How has your program/major prepared you for a future career?
I’ve received meaningful coaching and advising, and I’ve been presented many opportunities to be hands-on in the field I plan to go into.
What activities or organizations have you been/were you involved with at UE? How have these impacted you and your college career?
I currently serve as the President of Delta Sigma Theta Sorority, Inc. and am a member of the Chisholm-Jordan Institute program for collegiate women who want to work in government. I’m also a member of the Black Student Union. My professional roles on campus include interning for Greek Life and working at the library. I also recently finished a productive shadowing at the Mayor’s Office, where I worked on a special project and had mentorship. Previously, I held leadership positions on the executive boards of Ace Scholars and the Black Student Union, and I served on the MLK Day Committee.
What makes UE a special place? How did our campus shape your college experience?
UE is a special place because the staff and their offices really care about the students and love doing what they do. I never have to worry about finding some sort of relief from stress on campus and always know that there is some type of support that can be found throughout my time here. Campus shaped my college experience by making me very knowledgeable and a multitasker. You learn a lot from this campus, and I think it definitely helped me navigate college in a serene but challenging way.
What advice would you share with incoming students?
Don’t be afraid to step out your comfort zone, which sounds cliché. But here, that’s really how you find your people. Look into the things that interest you on and around campus because you can really find the hidden gems.
Why do you recommend the University of Evansville?
I recommend UE because of its strong academics and the feeling of being seen. Even when you don’t realize it, someone is seeing you and your accomplishments, no matter how small. It’s also in close proximity to many other places, so it’s easy to plan a trip!
How has UE been affordable for you?
They provided me with many scholarships that helped me make my final decision. When applying for schools I kept wondering if I would even be able to afford anywhere, but UE made that dream come true. They have always been willing to accommodate me and my needs.
