Why did you choose to attend UE?
I chose to attend UE because I knew it would be a place with opportunities and growth that I would not find anywhere else. UE is a small school, but the opportunities and experiences are BIG!
How has your major prepared you for a future career?
The School of Education has been a driving force behind my success in the classroom. I recently received the Outstanding Future Educator Award, and I know this is a testament to the professors who have believed in my capabilities since day one.
What activities or organizations have you been/were you involved with at UE? How have these impacted you and your college career?
I've been involved with a variety of student organizations on campus, but undoubtedly the one that has shaped me as a leader the most has been Student Activities Board. I have served this organization both as a VP and President, and I have found connections that I know will continue grow outside of college. This organization has allowed me to lead, to grow, and to find my strengths. I'm forever grateful for the opportunities it has given me.
What makes UE a special place? How did our campus shape your college experience?
I truly feel valued on campus. My professors care about me enough to recognize when I am not reaching my full potential, and my club advisors know me both professionally and personally. UE's campus and its staff truly embody what it means to serve.
What advice would you share with incoming students?
Do the things that are right for you! It is so easy to be influenced by everything and everyone. Find the clubs and organizations that speak to you. Say yes to the opportunities you are drawn to, and say no to the ones that don't align with you. You are the expert of yourself, and it is important to maintain that.
Why do you recommend the University of Evansville?
The opportunities and the support! I am a first-generation college student who has been supported since day one. Prior to graduating I got a job right away because of the continued support UE gives me. Additionally, I have had insane opportunities given to me by being SAB President, I've made great connections, and I went to Harlaxton! UE has given me the chance to do it all.
How has UE been affordable for you?
SCHOLARSHIPS! I can't emphasize this enough! I honestly didn't think college was an option for me. No one in my family has ever attended college, and I didn't think we could afford it. I applied to UE and every single scholarship that I heard of. Now, I am actually being paid to go to college because of the abundance of scholarships I received through UE and outside sources. Blessings upon blessings! If you want it, you can do it, and UE will help you!
Did you visit UE before deciding to attend?
Yes! My visit solidified my choice. Everyone was so kind and so welcoming. I met the School of Education and knew I wanted to spend the next four years surrounded by their genuine love and support.
