Did you visit campus before choosing UE? What did you think about UE after that visit?

I had an official visit to campus during my interview day for the PsyD program. I was incredibly impressed with the campus and everyone I met. Everyone was incredibly welcoming, and I felt like I was in the right place the entire time.

Why did you choose to attend UE's PsyD program over other graduate/doctoral programs?

I chose UE's PsyD program because I knew it would be the best fit for me. As a student with a background in Biology who previously had her heart set on attending medical school, I was hoping to find a program that would understand, welcome, and celebrate my unique perspective as someone who did not major in Psychology. When I first got into contact with Dr. Jordan, he was incredibly encouraging. I came to understand how the program is designed to champion diverse backgrounds and experiences, and I really appreciate that. I also chose this program because it is going to give me countless opportunities. I am excited for the connections that have been made between this program at UE and the Evansville community in a short amount of time. I also see this program as harboring a great deal of potential; the opportunities are truly endless. And, in addition to all of this, I thought it would be a tremendous honor to be a part of the inaugural cohort!

What advice would you share with students going through the college search for graduate/doctoral programs?

I think it is important for students to seek academic and professional excellence in whichever program they are considering, but I also think it is important to consider whether you feel genuinely welcomed by your program of interest. It is important to find a program that aligns well with your academic and professional goals, but also the personal ones. And, ultimately, the program you choose should be a program that believes in you, sometimes more than you may even believe in yourself. During your search, try to find these programs that really emphasize how important your success is. And, also, find a program that is going to advocate for your success so strongly that they are working with you every step of the way.

Why do you recommend UE?

I recommend UE because it feels very personal. It is actually larger than my undergrad institution, but still manages to make an effort to provide value to each and every student. I appreciate the accessibility of resources, as well as the ease of getting into contact whenever you might have questions. I think UE is an important part of the Evansville community. If you want to be at a school that encourages and enacts change, UE is the right place.

Hobbies?

I love anything artsy, like painting and crafting, and I also really enjoy spending time with my loved ones.
