Why did you choose to attend UE?

The University has a strong reputation for academic excellence, particularly in fields related to my chosen major, Exercise Science. The small class sizes and dedicated faculty promised a more personalized and engaging learning experience, which I believed would foster my academic growth. Even more, the campus's vibrant and inclusive community appealed to me, as it offered opportunities for personal development and meaningful connections with fellow students. The University of Evansville's commitment to fostering a well-rounded education with a focus on extracurricular activities, community involvement, and career development further solidified my decision, making it the ideal place for me to pursue my educational and personal goals.

Did you visit campus before choosing UE?

I did visit campus before finalizing my college decision, and the experience was instrumental in confirming my choice. I was immediately struck by its picturesque setting and the well-maintained, inviting atmosphere. I noticed that the campus was compact, which I saw as a great advantage because it encouraged a tight-knit community and made everything conveniently accessible. During my visit, I had the opportunity to interact with current students who were not only friendly but also enthusiastic about their academic experiences and extracurricular activities. This interaction gave me a strong sense of the supportive and inclusive community that UE offered, and it reassured me that I would find my place there.

What activities or organizations have you been involved with at UE? How have these impacted your college career?

I immediately became involved on campus. I have been a member of Ace CARE, Pre PT-Club, Exercise Science Club, Student Christian Fellowship, Actively Moving Forward, Active Minds, and Greek Life. All these organizations have provided me with numerous ways to further myself not only just professionally, but also personally. I have learned a lot of leadership and personal skills that will be beneficial throughout my life and am grateful for the opportunities provided.

How has your program shaped and prepared you for a future career?

Studying Exercise Science has been instrumental in shaping and preparing me for a future career as a physical therapist. It included practical experiences, such as internships and informational conferences, where I had the opportunity to work directly with patients and healthcare professionals. These experiences allowed me to apply the knowledge I gained in real-world settings and develop crucial clinical skills, such as patient assessment, treatment planning, and effective communication with patients. Exercise Science also emphasized critical thinking and problem-solving, which are essential skills for a physical therapist. I learned to analyze complex situations, make informed decisions, and adapt treatment plans to meet the unique needs of each patient. This has provided me with a strong foundation in the principles of movement, human anatomy, and healthcare, which are invaluable for a future career as a physical therapist.

How has UE been affordable for you?

Affordability was a critical factor in my decision to enroll here. The University's generous scholarship offerings, which were based on my academic achievements and financial need, helped reduce the overall cost of tuition. These scholarships, in combination with other forms of financial aid, made attending UE a financially viable option for me and my family. The scholarship opportunities not only eased the financial burden but also made it clear that UE valued my academic potential and was willing to invest in my education. This recognition and support were motivating and made me feel like I would be part of a community that genuinely cared about my success.

Why do you recommend UE? What advice would you share with incoming students?

The University of Evansville felt like home from the second I stepped foot on campus. Coming to UE has been the best, even though stressful at times, because of the amazing faculty, beautiful campus, small class sizes, and the insane amount of opportunity given to all students. If I had to give advice to new students, it would be to be active on campus. Do not be afraid to go out and try something new, make a lot of friends, and study hard. College only happens once in your life and it goes by faster than you think it is going to. Take it all in and enjoy it!
