Why did you choose to attend UE?
I came from a small school in Norcross, Georgia, and I wanted to go to a school similar in size. I fell in love with UE the second I stepped foot on campus on a Purple Visit Day the July before my junior year of high school. It immediately felt like home.
Did you visit campus before choosing UE?
I feel like the only reason I really fell in love with the school was actually getting to see it in person. The minute I set foot on the campus I knew it was where I wanted to end up. Meeting professors and other potential students really helped me understand what going to UE would really be like. I was welcomed with open arms. That was a big deal for me and my mom considering how far it was from my hometown.
What activities or organizations have you been involved with at UE? How have these impacted your college career?
During my time at UE, I joined a Greek organization and took a leadership role in both my sorority and the governing body of all sororities, the Panhellenic Council. I joined Student Christian Fellowship and the University of Evansville Music Therapy Association. I had the opportunity to hang out with people I had a lot in common with and talk to people I may not have as much in common with. I think that’s one of the great things about college. Some of my best friends are people that I don’t share much with from different majors and parts of the country.
How has your program shaped and prepared you for a future career?
I love the students and faculty within the Music Conservatory. I have had the opportunity to learn so much from my professors as a musician and as a person. I’ve loved all the experience I’ve gained in the field during practicum classes and directions in lectures and lessons.
Why do you recommend UE?
UE isn’t the typical college experience. It’s a small school - practically just a block. There is so much packed into this square. There is so much life and always something going on and people to hang out with.
