Why did you choose to attend UE?
I really appreciated the small class sizes, especially after transitioning back to in-person classes following homeschooling during COVID. I also enjoyed the campus amenities, like the fitness center, library, and classrooms. The campus itself is beautifully landscaped, which made it feel welcoming and peaceful.
How has your program/major prepared you for a future career?
My studies have deepened my understanding of user experience and the importance of empathy. Connecting with your audience and effectively communicating requires understanding others, something my majors have really emphasized. I’ve also gained insights into how people think, which is crucial for creating visually appealing messages.
What activities or organizations have you been/were you involved with at UE? How have these impacted you and your college career?
I’ve been involved in the History Club, BSU, and several volunteer activities. The History Club has given me new perspectives on history and allowed me to design some engaging flyers and marketing materials. BSU helped me build strong connections and find a community on campus.
What makes UE a special place?
This college’s strong sense of community and supportive environment shaped both my academic and personal growth. What truly sets UE apart is how it makes studying abroad easy and accessible, allowing me to study at Harlaxton and take trips to places like Kenya, Ireland, and Scotland, expanding my perspective in a truly unique way.
What advice would you share with incoming students?
It’s not as serious as it feels—remember to breathe. It can get overwhelming, but you’re still learning, and mistakes are part of the process. Don’t get hung up on them; instead, focus on what you can learn and how it can help you grow.
Why do you recommend the University of Evansville?
I recommend UE for its diverse perspectives and experiences. The community here is fun and engaging, and it really helped me deal with homesickness. The small class sizes and easy access to professors make it feel personal, and they genuinely want to see you succeed, which means a lot.
How has UE been affordable for you?
The Fellows Program (now TASL) and other scholarships, like the Visit Scholarship and FAFSA, have been incredibly helpful. Attending Road Trip also provided me with a stipend for my first semester, which was a great help.
Did you visit UE before deciding to attend?
I visited UE during Road Trip, and it was an amazing experience. I met so many people who are still my friends today, including my freshman roommate, who’s now my bestie! It gave me a real feel for college life, and if you get the chance to go, definitely do it!
Do you have anything else to share about your UE experience?
Get involved as much as you can, even if you’re an introvert like me. The connections you make during events like Welcome Week and SOAR can really shape your experience. They helped me find my community and will prepare you for life after college. And don’t worry if you don’t get involved right away—you’ve got plenty of time to discover what you love.
