Dr. Suresh Immanuel serves as Dean of the College of Business and Engineering and Associate Provost for Academic Partnerships at the University of Evansville, where he is also a tenured Professor of Civil Engineering. In his leadership roles, Dr. Immanuel provides strategic oversight for academic programs spanning business, engineering, and applied learning, with a focus on enrollment growth, industry engagement, interdisciplinary collaboration, and global partnerships. He assumed the deanship in June 2024, bringing with him extensive academic and administrative experience. Prior to this role, he served as Associate Dean and earlier as Department Chair within the School of Engineering and Computer Science, where he led faculty, curriculum development, assessment, and accreditation-related initiatives. His leadership has been instrumental in advancing cross-college collaboration, including the development of new interdisciplinary programs that align academic preparation with workforce needs.
A registered Professional Engineer (P.E.), Dr. Immanuel is actively involved in accreditation and quality assurance at the national level. He serves as a Civil Engineering Program Evaluator for the Accreditation Board for Engineering and Technology (ABET) and has contributed extensively to the American Society of Civil Engineers (ASCE), including service on multiple national committees. His scholarly service has been recognized with the Outstanding Reviewer Award from the ASCE Journal of Transportation Engineering in 2012, 2014, and 2017. At the University of Evansville, he has served on numerous institutional committees, including the Academic Services Committee, General Education Subcommittee, and Curriculum Committee, and he previously served as University Ombudsperson for two years. He is the recipient of several honors recognizing his contributions to teaching and service, including the 2018 Dean’s Teaching Award and the 2023 Eykamp Prize, which acknowledges extraordinary contributions to the University.
Dr. Immanuel’s work is guided by a commitment to student success, faculty development, and meaningful partnerships that strengthen the relevance and impact of higher education.
