Assistant Professor of Mechanical Engineering
The School of Engineering and Computer Science at the University of Evansville invites applications for a tenure track Assistant Professor position in Mechanical Engineering to start in August 2026.
Applicants should be committed to outstanding undergraduate teaching and have excellent oral and written English skills. Appropriate scholarly/professional development activities and university service are expected. Priority will be given to applicants with a specialty area in mechatronics/automation, biomechanics/human-machine interfaces, autonomous vehicles, mechanics/machine design, systems and controls, or smart manufacturing. The applicant will be responsible for teaching undergraduate courses in their specialty area and foundational courses in the mechanical engineering curriculum. The undergraduate curriculum at UE is geared toward project-based learning. A successful applicant will be able to demonstrate how they would integrate this into their pedagogy. The mechanical engineering program at UE is EAC-ABET accredited, and the applicant is expected to participate with other faculty in program assessment using existing assessment instruments.
Required Education
A B.S. in mechanical engineering and an earned doctorate in mechanical engineering or a closely related field are preferred. Excellent applicants at the ABD level will also be considered. Teaching experience is preferred but not required.
