Clinical Assistant Professor of Music Education
The University of Evansville announces an opening for a full-time Director of Music Education at the rank of Clinical Assistant Professor in the UE Music Conservatory beginning August 2026. Responsibilities include teaching courses in the music education curriculum (including methods courses, techniques courses, internship and student teaching supervision, etc.); advise and mentor all music education majors encompassing vocal, instrumental, and general music education; serve as liaison with the UE School of Education; stay current with accreditation and state licensing standards; maintain high profile among area music educators and music education organizations in a manner that brings distinction to the music education program; play a vital role in the recruitment of music education majors to UE.
Additional teaching in areas outside of music education will be assigned based on the successful candidate’s qualifications and the needs of the Music Conservatory. Active recruitment of highly qualified music majors, assistance with the summer music camp and other outreach activities, professional/scholarly activity, and service on departmental and university committees is expected.
Masters degree is required, doctorate preferred. Candidates should show demonstrated success in teaching at the K-12 level, a deep understanding of current teaching methods and pedagogies at all levels of K-12 music education, and a willingness to seek out professional development. Undergraduate teaching experience is also highly desirable.
