About Harlaxton College

Harlaxton College is housed in a magnificent 200-room Victorian manor built in the 1850s and set amid 300 acres of gardens, woodland, and farmland in the Lincolnshire countryside near Grantham, England. Since welcoming its first cohort of students in 1971, Harlaxton has served as a second home to thousands of undergraduate students who immerse themselves in British culture while completing general education and discipline-specific coursework. In addition to its academic mission, Harlaxton Manor serves as a vibrant center for community engagement, hosting conferences, cultural programs, special events, and other opportunities that welcome local, national, and international guests within its historic walls.

Students benefit from a rigorous and distinctive academic experience anchored by Harlaxton’s signature British Studies courses. Classes are held Monday through Thursday, allowing extended weekends for university-organized excursions or independent travel across the UK and Europe.

Position Overview

The Executive Director and Dean of Harlaxton College serves as the Chief Executive and Academic Officer of Harlaxton College and Harlaxton Manor Enterprise. Harlaxton College advances the University’s academic mission through immersive global education, cultural engagement, and international partnership. This position provides strategic, academic, and operational leadership for the institution and is responsible for:

• Oversight of all academic programs and faculty
• Leadership of student experience and campus life
• Operational stewardship of the Harlaxton estate, including conference and event enterprises
• Preservation and advancement of Harlaxton Manor as a significant heritage site in the UK

The Executive Director and Dean of Harlaxton College reports to the Executive Vice President for Academic Affairs and Provost of the University of Evansville and works in close partnership with UE leadership as well as the team at Harlaxton to ensure alignment with institutional priorities and standards.

The University of Evansville seeks a candidate of exceptional integrity, sound judgment, and demonstrated leadership. Strong candidates will bring a record of progressive responsibility and experiences that align closely with the qualifications outlined below:

• Senior leadership experience in higher education or a related complex environment
• A student-centric philosophy and demonstrated commitment to teaching, learning, and student success
• Strong business acumen, including financial management and operational oversight
• Knowledge of study abroad programs, global education, or international academic collaboration with an emphasis on student recruitment
• Experience in strategic planning, programmatic assessment, and continuous improvement

A doctoral degree or comparable combination of academic and administrative experience is preferred.

Candidates should have a minimum of five years of faculty experience and five years of progressively responsible administrative leadership experience; previous service as an academic dean or higher is preferred.

The successful candidate must be eligible to live and work in the United Kingdom.

Salary
