Lead Dispatcher - Office of Public Safety
The University of Evansville (UE) is seeking a highly organized, professional, and composed Lead Dispatcher to join the Office of Public Safety. This is a critical role that serves as the nerve center for campus safety operations and the primary administrative hub for our front-office services.
As the Lead Dispatcher, you will do more than coordinate communications; you will manage essential campus services, ensuring that our community remains safe, informed, and supported. Key Responsibilities
The Lead Dispatcher oversees daily dispatch operations, supervises student staff, and provides high-level administrative support for departmental initiatives. Your main duties will include:
- Dispatch & Emergency Coordination: Coordinate daily dispatch operations, route incoming emergency and non-emergency calls, and maintain accurate documentation of all incidents and calls for service.
- Security Systems Monitoring: Monitor campus security camera systems and access control platforms to identify and report suspicious activity in real-time.
- Campus Access & Identity Management: Manage building lock/unlock schedules, process access requests, and oversee the production of University identification cards for all students and employees.
- Administrative & Grant Management: Serve as the Office Manager for the Project SafeSpace Department of Justice (DOJ) grant. This includes tracking program data, maintaining vital documentation, and supporting federal reporting requirements.
- Student Leadership: Supervise, schedule, and train student employees, fostering a professional and service-oriented environment at the front desk.
- Public Interface: Provide exceptional customer service to the campus community, process parking citations and fines, and assist with general administrative inquiries.
- Stakeholder Collaboration: Partner with Facilities, Residence Life, and Student Affairs to address safety-related requests and building access needs.
Required Qualifications

- Composure: The ability to remain calm, organized, and effective while handling high-stress situations or emergency calls.
- Organizational Mastery: Strong attention to detail with the ability to manage multiple operational priorities simultaneously.
- Technical Proficiency: Advanced computer skills and the ability to quickly master public safety software (dispatching, access control, and video surveillance).
- Discretion: A demonstrated ability to handle sensitive and confidential information with sound judgment.
- Supervisory Potential: The ability to guide, mentor, and support student staff in a professional office setting.
