Head Swim & Dive Coach
The University of Evansville (UE), a proud member of the Missouri Valley Conference (MVC), invites applications for the position of Head Coach for Men’s and Women’s Swimming & Diving. We are seeking a visionary leader to direct our NCAA Division I program, fostering an environment where student-athletes excel in the water, in the classroom, and in the community.
As Head Coach, you will be the architect of the program’s future—from high-stakes recruiting and championship coaching to facility management and community fundraising. If you have the drive to lead a D-I program and the heart to mentor the next generation of leaders, we want you to lead the Purple Aces.
Key Responsibilities
The Head Coach provides comprehensive leadership for all aspects of the swimming and diving program. Your main duties will include:
- Programmatic Vision & Leadership: Direct all phases of an NCAA Division I program, including effective seasonal planning, daily practice preparation, and meet-day coaching.
- Roster & Scholarship Management: Lead the recruitment of high-caliber student-athletes. Strategically manage athletic scholarships alongside University financial aid to meet roster goals and maximize competitiveness.
- Academic Excellence: Mentor student-athletes to ensure academic success, retention, and timely graduation, maintaining the program’s reputation for scholarly achievement.
- Fiscal Management: Oversee the operating budget, procurement of equipment, and coordination of all team travel with a focus on sound business practices.
- Staff Supervision: Recruit, train, and evaluate a high-performing assistant coaching staff.
- Facilities & Community Oversight: Manage the daily operations of the Roy & Mary Wyttenbach Pool. Build and maintain vital relationships with the Evansville community and officials at the Deaconess Aquatic Center.
- Fundraising: Spearhead programmatic fundraising efforts to support enhancements and long-term program growth.
- Compliance: Ensure 100% adherence to all University, NCAA, and Missouri Valley Conference rules and regulations.
Required Qualifications
- Experience: Demonstrated success in coaching at the collegiate level (NCAA Division I experience preferred).
- Certifications: Must be Lifeguard, First Aid, AED, and CPR certified (or have the ability to obtain these certifications upon hire).
- Leadership: Strong interpersonal and communication skills with the ability to build relationships with faculty, staff, and the broader swimming community.
- Availability: Ability to work a flexible schedule including nights, weekends, and significant travel for competition and recruiting.
Professional Competencies
- Expertise in swim/dive technique, training methodologies, and meet strategy.
- Strong financial acumen and experience managing operating budgets.
- A "recruiter’s mindset" with the ability to identify and attract talented student-athletes.
