Student Media is a student organization that produces media content for the University of Evansville students, faculty, staff, administrators, and alumni. Student Media produces and creates content for The Crescent Magazine an online and print publication. The Crescent Magazine is published 3 times a semester in print and online. 1500 copies are distributed on campus.

The magazine serves as an open forum for University of Evansville students, faculty, staff, administrators, and alumni through its editorials, columns, and letters to the editor. With a focus on student life, the magazine provides coverage of campus news, features, sports, and select local and general-interest items to our audience. The Crescent’s aim is to present relevant content in a fair, accurate and unbiased manner, to keep news items free of editorial comment, and to use editorial comment as a tool for informing and persuading using factual information and opinion.

There are opportunities to join Student Media for credit through art, communication, writing practicums and/or elective credit as well as volunteer positions. Student Media also hires two students a year through federal work study and offers other paid positions when available. Any student, regardless of year in school or academic major, is invited to inquire about working with Student Media. Positions are assumed for the academic year.

Student Media has expanded their use of photography, video, and sound to produce a more engaging experience for our audience. As of 2023 Student Media is Producing 5 podcasts with more in the works. Student Media is dedicated to our digital evolution and will continue to explore new and exciting ways to connect with students, faculty, staff, administrators, and alumni.
