Action to Take: Formal or Informal Resolution Process
- Formal Resolution Process: the Formal Resolution Process is the disciplinary process for Title IX and Harassment and Discrimination cases. The process involves an investigation, evidence review, and hearing. The result of a hearing would be a finding on responsibility and sanctions or remedies. This process may take several months to complete.
- The Informal Resolution Process: a voluntary, structured interaction between the parties to resolve concerns prior to a determination of responsibility. The Informal Process often looks like a mediation but may take different forms. Any outcome from the Informal Resolution Process must be agreed upon by all parties and the University. The Informal Resolution Process may take a month or more; but often does not include disciplinary action against the Respondent.
You can make a report to the Office of Institutional Equity by emailing titleix@evansville.edu, calling 812-488-5261, or visiting Koch Center 263 and 264. You can also reach out to learn more about the Formal and Informal Resolution processes.
Action to Take: Report only with support
The option to report only means that the Office of Institutional Equity will document your report and provide supportive measures; but there will be no formal or informal process associated. This option allows you to get support, often times without the Respondent knowing that you have made a report.
Important things to know:
- There is no statute of limitations
- Support must be non-disciplinary
- There are some situations that the University is required to pursue the Formal Resolution Process; however, your participation is voluntary.
You can make a report to the Office of Institutional Equity by emailing titleix@evansville.edu; calling 812-488-5261,or stopping by Koch Center 263 and 264. You can also reach out to learn more about the Formal and Informal Resolution processes
