UE Experiences

As a business student majoring in Management and Marketing, I was able to gain exposure to concepts and real-world experience related to organizational behavior and development, market research practices, consumer psychology and behaviors, as well as a multitude of other educational opportunities. The majority of the projects that were assigned to my classes gave us the opportunity to apply the concepts we learned in practical real-life situations. My favorite classes were Organizational Behavior, Production/Operations Management, Decision-Making, Leadership, International Sales & Logistics, Consumer Behavior, and Compensation & Benefits. I completed three internships during my college career, the third of which led to a full-time job offer at Energy Systems Group. A large part of my success is a direct result of the practice and preparation for the professional world that the Schroeder Family School of Business so adeptly provides to its students.

Study Abroad Experiences

While at UE, I was able to spend a semester abroad at Harlaxton College. It was absolutely the best four months of my college career. Though we completed courses just as we would back at UE, the real education came from being immersed in various cultures while traveling. No one could have told me how much of an impact studying abroad would have on me before I left. It was amazing how much self-discovery happened while traveling and studying abroad, and it gave me a sense of independence and confidence I would not have been able to achieve by reading textbooks or writing papers. Prior to my senior year, I was able to travel to Ulaanbaatar, Mongolia as part of a senior capstone project. We spent 10 days in Mongolia and China, and it was a life-changing experience. Also, my International Sales & Logistics class was a collaborative class that partnered with students in Morocco. For our final project, we all traveled to Harlaxton College and spent a week finishing our final projects to present to the whole class. If there is one thing that I would recommend that all students do, it would be to take advantage of some study abroad opportunity.
