Honors Program Common Read Experience
University of Evansville Honors Program Common Read Experience Fall 2025: Circle of Hope: A Reckoning with Love, Power, and Justice in an American Church by Eliza Griswold
The Common Read Experience is an annual tradition of the Honors Program at UE. All incoming Honors students read a text together and discuss it’s themes in their First Year Seminar (FYS-112H) course, taken their first semester at the university. After reading the text, Honors students are given the opportunity to engage with the author, who is invited to campus to give a guest lecture. The experience encourages students to discuss and learn together while fostering and strengthening a sense of academic community.
This year’s author, Eliza Griswold, is a Pulitzer Prize-winning journalist, poet and translator. Her work centers on the complex nexus of religion, politics, human rights, and the environment. In addition to her role as the Director of Princeton University’s vaunted Program in Journalism, Griswold has been a contributing writer for The New Yorker for over two decades and has written and translated several volumes of poetry.
The 2025 Common Read Lecture will take place on Tuesday, October 21, 2025. More details forthcoming!
