What was your favorite part of studying Creative Writing at UE?

The faculty made studying Creative Writing at UE an invaluable experience. They take a personal interest in your development as a writer, and they've created a community of students who just love the craft of writing (and talking about writing). At UE, I knew my professors truly wanted me to succeed.

What did you experience in UE's CRW department that feels special/unique to our program?

What's unique about UE's Creative Writing program is the numerous opportunities for real-life experience in writing and editing. Between the multiple literary magazines, Student Publications, and other internships on and off campus, it was pretty hard for me to leave the Creative Writing department without experience. Not only did it beef up my resume, but it was also an opportunity for me to find the types of writing that I enjoy and discover why writing is my passion.

What was your favorite Creative Writing class and why?

My favorite class was Dr. Nikolidakis' Writing for Digital Media class. Exploring new mediums like blogging and podcasting forced me to revisit the basics of storytelling and made me a more well-rounded writer. This class also introduced me to SEO, which is now my full-time job!

What are you up to now?

I am currently an SEO Editor for Prime Publishing in Northbrook, IL, where I write, edit, and optimize content for various websites. In my free time, I am still writing mostly poetry and creative nonfiction, although I have not published anything recently.
