AANA Appoints Two from CRNA to Serve on Committees

Dr. Melissa Eisenhauer, DNP, CRNA, Nurse Anesthesia Program Administrator, and Aprilrose Monroig, BSN, SRNA, Nurse Anesthesia Student, have been appointed by the American Association of Nurse Anesthesiology (AANA) Board of Directors to serve on committees for the AANA from August 2025 until August 2026.  Dr. Eisenhauer will serve on the Government Relations Committee.

The GRC addresses matters pertaining to federal legislation and regulations and makes recommendations to the Board of Directors.  Aprilrose will serve on the Professional Development Committee.  This committee develops, implements, and evaluates the AANA’s educational content and programs.  It is an honor to be chosen from among thousands of CRNAs and Nurse Anesthesia Students to serve at the national level.  Both Dr. Eisenhauer and Aprilrose are proud to represent the University of Evansville!

Journal of Nurse Anesthesia Education Publishes Manuscript by CRNA Faculty

The Nurse Anesthesia Program is proud to announce the recent publication of the manuscript From Turnover to Tenure: One Program’s Efforts to Create Faculty Longevity in Nurse Anesthesia Education in the Journal of Nurse Anesthesia Education.

Authored by DNAP program faculty Dr. Melissa Eisenhauer, DNP, CRNA, APRN, Dr. Aleksander Nagornay, DNP, CRNA, APRN, and Dr. Matthew Harmon, DNP, CRNA, APRN, MBA, this scholarly work explores targeted strategies to improve faculty retention and promote long-term stability in nurse anesthesia education. Intelligent Ultrasound Interviews Nurse Anesthesia Faculty

Dr. Melissa Eisenhauer, Dr. Matthew Harmon, and Dr. Aleksander Nagornay were interviewed by Intelligent Ultrasound.

Second Cohort of Nurse Anesthesia Students Graduate

The second class of Nurse Anesthesia students graduated in a ceremony held in Shanklin Theatre on campus in December.  It was a successful, celebratory event surrounded by families and friends.  The keynote speaker was the Clinical Instructor of the Year Award recipient, Bradd Sweatt, CRNA.  Baptist Health Floyd was named Clinical Site of the Year.  Congratulations to Michael Clancy for earning the Agatha Hodgins Award for Outstanding Academic Achievement and to Ashley Oberg for taking home the Clinical Excellence Award.
