National Comedy Tour “Operation Comedy” Coming to UE

Posted: Friday, October 19, 2012

With the goal of supporting military veterans while getting laughs out of a local audience, the nationally touring comedy show Operation Comedy will come to the University of Evansville next month.

The show, sponsored by the UE VETS student organization, will begin at 7:30 p.m. Thursday, November 1 in Eykamp Hall. Tickets will be available at the door and cost $7 for the public and $5 for military veterans, current service members, and students.

Operation Comedy’s mission is to bring together troops and their communities for a night of education, recognition, and laughter. Operation Comedy shows feature a lineup of nationally headlining comedians, led by Jon Stites, founder of Operation Comedy and a U.S. Army infantry veteran who has been featured on “The Bob & Tom Show” and writes for National Lampoon.

The show at the University of Evansville will also feature Troy Davis, who has performed in more than 200 cities and been featured on “The Bob & Tom Show,” and Todd McComas, a U.S. Marine Corps veteran who has appeared on Comcast Cable comedy programs.

Proceeds from ticket sales and sponsorships will be donated to the Evansville Vet Center with a portion also going to UE VETS, the student organization for military veterans, current service members, and their families. The Vet Center provides readjustment counseling and services to veterans and their families in the Evansville community.

UE VETS wishes to thank the following local sponsors of Operation Comedy: MFRI Operation Diploma; Veterans Helping Indiana Veterans, Inc.; Woods and Woods, LLP; and Graphics Factory.
