U.S. News & World Report Names UE a Top 10 Midwest University

Posted: Tuesday, September 10, 2013

U.S. News & World Report has again named the University of Evansville one of the Midwest’s top 10 regional universities – and one of the region’s best values – in its annual Best Colleges rankings.

For the third consecutive year, UE maintained its ninth-place ranking in the “Best Regional Universities: Midwest” category, which ranks 110 universities in 12 states. In 2011, UE’s ninth-place position marked the highest finish since 1994.

The University also held steady at #3 on the list of “Great Schools at Great Prices” in the Midwest, and was named an “A-Plus School for B Students” among Midwest regional universities. This unranked list features schools “where spirit and hard work could make all the difference to admissions offices,” according to U.S. News & World Report.

“Amid the national dialogue on college affordability and accountability for students’ success, we’re pleased to maintain our ranking as one of the Midwest’s top 10 universities that are making an impact on students’ lives,” said UE President Thomas A. Kazee. “We’re especially proud of our ‘Great Schools at Great Prices’ recognition, which demonstrates that UE is a regional leader in providing a meaningful and high-quality academic experience at an affordable price.”

U.S. News & World Report bases its rankings on measures of academic excellence such as student graduation and retention rates, faculty resources, student selectivity, and class sizes. The rankings are designed to help prospective students and their families evaluate college choices.

The Best Colleges rankings are available online today at USNews.com and will be published in U.S. News & World Report’s Best Colleges 2014 guidebook, on newsstands September 24.
