The University of Evansville (UE) is expanding its partnerships with area high schools, signing nine dual-credit agreements this week that will create additional opportunities for high school students to earn college credit.

While some of these partnerships build on relationships that have been in place for years, UE continues to look for new opportunities to strengthen and expand its connections with local schools and provide more pathways for students to begin earning college credit before they graduate from high school.

The agreements include with Central High School, Mater Dei High School, Memorial High School, Evansville Christian School, Castle High School, Warrick Pathways, Indiana Digital Learning School, Northeast Dubois High School, and Southridge High School.

The agreements vary considerably, ranging from a single course to as many as 22 courses. Depending on the partnership, students may be able to earn UE credit for qualifying courses taught at their high school, enroll directly in UE courses, or participate in both opportunities.

"Dual credit is about creating opportunity and helping students see themselves as college students before they graduate from high school," said UE President Christopher M. Pietruszkiewicz. "These partnerships strengthen the connection between our schools and our university while giving students a meaningful head start on their college education."

The agreements also reflect UE's commitment to building stronger connections with schools throughout the region and creating more seamless pathways from high school to higher education.

Each agreement is designed around the needs of the individual school and its students, allowing UE to build partnerships that are both flexible and meaningful. The University of Evansville expects to announce additional dual-credit agreements with area schools in the near future.
