University of Evansville Theatre Presents HEDDA GABLER

The University of Evansville (UE) Theatre begins its 2026-2027 season with a new version of HEDDA GABLER, by Patrick Marber. This production opens at 7:30 p.m., Sept. 24, in the May Studio Theatre.
Additional performances are at 7:30 p.m., on Sept. 25 and 26, and at 2:00 p.m. on Sept. 26 and 27. Widely considered one of theatre's most dangerous women, Hedda Gabler is a very funny, caustic, sad, lonely, angry, and clever character. Patrick Marber's brilliant adaptation gives us a razor-sharp look into a fiercely independent woman who refuses to accept society's expectations of her.
HEDDA GABLER is directed by Assistant Professor Amelia McClain '03. Austin Kuhn '20, serves as the scenic designer; Marguerite Winzinger, a senior directring and dramaturgy major from Bordentown, N.J. serves as the costume designer; Jonah Charpie, a senior design and technology major from Noblesville, Ind., serves as the lighting designer; Dakota Parobek, guest artist, serves as the sound designer; John David Lutz Distinguished Professor of the Arts Diane Brewer serves as the dramaturg; Mel Denison, a senior stage management major from Gainesville, Texas, is the stage manager; and Assistant Professor Andy Hammond '08 serves as the technical director.
The cast features Bailey Crawford, a senior performance major from Frisco, Texas, as Hedda; Folarin Oyeleye, a senior performance major from Richmond, Texas, as Tesman; Amoren Newton, a senior performance major from Denton, Texas, as Brack; Luis Alejandro Gonzalez, a junior performance major from Midland, Texas, as Lovborg; Gisele Lowery, a sophomore performance major from Richmond, Texas, as Mrs. Elvstad; Rylie Sudduth, a senior performance major from Versailles, Ky., as Juliana; and Elizabeth Wusterhausen, a junior performance major from Austin, Texas, as Berte.
Adult ticket prices are $25 and $20 for senior adults, UE employees. and non-UE students. UE students may obtain one free ticket with their student ID by visiting the ticket office. Single tickets may be purchased online at theatre.evansville.edu or by calling the ticket office at 812.488.2031, open Monday through Friday 12:00-5:00 pm.
