UE Libraries hosts “Lincoln: The Constitution and the Civil War,” an exhibit sponsored by the National Endowment for the Humanities, the National Constitution Center, and the American Library Association
Abraham Lincoln concluded his December 1, 1862 Annual Address to Congress with these words, “Fellow-citizens, we cannot escape history. While he was thinking of his legacy, those words help us understand his actions in fulfilling the promise of America begun by the founders.
Presenting Scholar: Mr. William Bartelt
Qualifications: Historian, author of There I grew up: remembering Abraham Lincoln's Indiana youth
Bartelt was also an active member of the Indiana Abraham Lincoln Bicentennial Commission as well as a member of the Federal Abraham Lincoln Advisory Committee.
