Desktop Support Coordinator

The University of Evansville (UE) is seeking a proactive and organized Desktop Support Coordinator to join our Office of Technology Services (OTS). This is a dynamic, hands-on role that balances coordination of IT workflows with direct, in-person support for faculty, staff, and students. Unlike a traditional desk-bound position, this role requires a regular physical presence across campus to ensure our instructional and administrative technologies are performing at their peak.

If you are a tech-savvy professional who thrives on movement, excels at troubleshooting, and possesses the leadership skills to coordinate high-priority service requests in a fast-paced academic environment, we want to meet you.

Key Responsibilities

As the Desktop Support Coordinator, you will act as a bridge between IT strategy and ground-level technical execution. Your main duties will include:

  • Coordination of Support Services: Ensure timely response to hardware, software, and workstation issues for faculty and staff.
  • Classroom & Lab Tech Oversight: Coordinate the maintenance of instructional technology, including projectors, AV systems, and classroom computers, ensuring they are ready for daily operation.
  • Service Workflow Management: Manage service requests through the campus ticketing system, providing leadership on ticket prioritization, clear documentation, and consistent resolutions.
  • Student Tech Liaison: Oversee assistance for students regarding personal device connectivity and academic tech access.
  • Deployment & Asset Management: Direct the installation, configuration, and updating of software across university workstations; maintain accurate technology inventory records.
  • Hands-On Technical Execution: Perform technical work across campus that includes lifting equipment, using ladders, and frequent travel between facilities for on-site support.

Required Qualifications

  • Technical Mastery: Proficiency with Windows and macOS operating systems; familiarity with mobile platforms (iOS/iPadOS, Android) and basic network troubleshooting.
  • Leadership/Coordination: Experience managing multiple priorities, prioritizing service requests, and working independently to lead technical resolutions.
  • Communication: Exceptional verbal and written skills with the ability to explain complex technical issues to non-technical users in a professional, service-oriented manner.
  • Physical Ability: Capability to lift up to 40 lbs, climb ladders, and remain mobile across campus as needed.
  • Attention to Detail: Meticulous approach to inventory tracking and service documentation.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Experience: 1+ year of IT support experience in a professional or academic setting, combined with 1+ year of customer service or coordination experience.
  • Certifications: CompTIA A+, Microsoft Certified Desktop Support Technician (MCDST), or equivalent professional certifications.
