Groundskeeper
The University of Evansville (UE) is seeking a hardworking, reliable, and detail-oriented Groundskeeper to join our Facilities Management team. As a Groundskeeper, you are the guardian of our "curb appeal," ensuring that our campus remains safe, accessible, and beautiful through every season.

Key Responsibilities
- The Groundskeeper ensures that all campus walkways, landscapes, and infrastructure are presented in a professional manner. Your main duties will include:
- Seasonal Landscape Care: Execute a rotating schedule of grounds maintenance, including mowing, edging, aerating, fertilizing, and maintaining flower beds.
- Winter Operations: Ensure the safety of the campus community by clearing snow and ice from sidewalks and driveways using shovels, salt, and de-icing equipment.
- Campus Pride & Cleanliness: Maintain a litter-free environment by regularly emptying trash containers and clearing debris from campus features, such as fountains and courtyards.
- Equipment Stewardship: Operate and perform minor maintenance on power mowers, blowers, saws, tractors, and forklifts to ensure maximum efficiency.
- Trade Support: Collaborate with other maintenance trades (plumbing, electrical, etc.) by assisting with the general clean-up and site preparation of work areas.
- Operational Readiness: Complete other groundskeeping, labor, and maintenance tasks as assigned to meet the daily needs of the University.
Required Qualifications
- Education: High school diploma or equivalent (OR 12 months of relevant experience).
- Licensure: Must possess and maintain a valid driver’s license.
- Physical Ability: Ability to perform frequent lifting, climbing, and moving of equipment in all types of weather conditions.
- Technical Skills: General knowledge of gardening and landscape methods, including weed/pest identification, and the ability to safely operate power tools and light mechanized equipment.
- Communication: Ability to read and follow oral and written instructions, including technical assembly schematics for equipment.
