Maintenance Technician

The University of Evansville Facilities Management and Planning department is seeking a skilled and versatile Maintenance Technician to join our campus operations team. This is a full-time, in-person position operating on the first shift, working directly for the University to ensure our academic, residential, and administrative facilities remain safe, functional, and efficient.

Key Responsibilities

The Maintenance Technician provides comprehensive trade and operational support across campus. Your main duties will include:

• Building & Systems Maintenance: Complete repairs, construction, and maintenance of university buildings and systems. Respond to work order requests providing carpentry, electrical, plumbing, and HVAC support.
• Mechanical & Systems Operations: Perform skilled installation, operation, maintenance, modification, and repair of electrical, HVAC, plumbing, and refrigeration control systems.
• System Monitoring & Troubleshooting: Interpret Energy Management System (EMS) alarms, temperature, and pressure differentials to troubleshoot issues and optimize building performance.
• Preventive Maintenance: Ensure the proper operation of pumps, engines, motors, and compressors; maintain electronic test equipment and mechanical tools according to operator manuals.
• Structural & Trade Support: Perform routine carpentry and basic plumbing/electrical repairs based on work orders or oral instructions to update university equipment and materials.
• Digital Documentation: Accurately track repair costs and labor hours using our mobile CMMS (Computerized Maintenance Management System) app.
• Collaborative Service: Promote cooperation, trust, and exceptional customer service across our multi-trade environment, and assist with other university duties and events as required.

Required Qualifications

• Education: High School Diploma or equivalent; or any combination of education, training, and experience that provides the necessary knowledge and skills.
• Licensure: Must possess a valid driver’s license and an acceptable driving record to operate university vehicles and equipment.
• Communication: Strong interpersonal skills with the ability to build professional relationships and communicate clearly in a service-oriented setting.

Physical & Operational Requirements

Schedule: Full-time, in-person position operating during the first shift.

• Strength & Agility: Ability to lift up to 50 lbs, climb stairs/ladders, and perform repetitive motions.
• Environment: Comfortable working in various conditions, including exposure to hot/cold outdoor temperatures and proximity to hazardous building materials (e.g., solvents, asbestos).
• Mobility: Frequent walking, standing, bending, twisting, and the ability to operate motorized campus equipment.
