Services and Resources

We offer a variety of services across campus as well as in our office, which is staffed 24/7 and is located on the first floor of the General Services Building. Requests for non-emergency services will be handled in the order in which they are received.

Public Safety offers the following services:

  • ID cards
We issue UE ID cards for the entire campus community. A replacement card is $30 and charged to the student’s account. You can stop by 8:00 a.m. – 4:00 p.m., Monday-Friday. No appointment is necessary.
  • Lost and found
Contact us at 812-488-2051 if you have a lost item. Found items are logged, tagged, and placed in a secure lockup for up to one year.
  • Medical assistance
For illness or minor injury, Public Safety can transport you to the on-campus Health Center or nearby hospital emergency department. Please contact your Resident Assistant or Residential Coordinator before contacting Public Safety.
  • Campus safety escorts
This is provided to any individual or group of students and is available 24/7. To request an escort, call 812-488-2051 and provide your name, specific location, and destination. The Public Safety officer will arrive in uniform, have a photo ID, and recite your name upon request.
  • Vehicle jump-start assistance
If you think you have a dead battery, call 812-488-2051 and provide your name, location, and vehicle description (i.e., make, model, and color). Public Safety can call a tow company at the owner’s request if additional services are needed, but the owner is responsible for the cost. UE is not responsible for damage or loss of property related to tow company services.
  • Building access
If you are a student or employee and are locked out of a building, call 812-488-2051 for assistance.
  • Emergency/Assistance phones
There are 13 emergency phones placed around campus, and they are recognizable by the blue lights on top and “Emergency” on the sides of the poles. Using these phones will connect you directly with the Office of Public Safety.
  • Parking passes
All vehicles must have a valid parking permit displayed to be parked on campus during posted permit required hours. You can register your vehicle through UE Self-Service.

Maintenance problems, including emergency repairs, should be reported directly to the Office of Facilities Management and Planning.

Vehicle Registration and Parking Permits

Any vehicle that will be used as transportation to and from campus must be registered with the Office of Public Safety, and you can do so for free via UE Self-Service.

All students, employees, contract vendor employees, and University-related personnel must have a valid parking permit on campus during required hours. Full-time students are provided a parking permit at no cost, and part-time students and employees may purchase an annual permit for $50.

Register for your parking permit at any time through UE Self-Service (under UE Forms > Employee or Student > Parking Permits).
