The University of Evansville recently received new accolades for its service to veterans. UE has been named one of Military Times’ Best for Vets: Colleges 2016. UE has also been recognized by Victory Media as a 2016 Military Friendly® School. Since 2009, UE has consecutively been ranked among the top 15% of colleges nationwide in this list. In addition, Victory Media named UE one of its Top 25 Private Colleges & Universities. More details about this ranking will be released in December.

The Best for Vets ranking is determined by results of Military Times’ annual survey, the most comprehensive school-by-school assessment of veteran and military student services and rates of academic achievement. UE was one of only 30 private schools on the list, and one of only two schools from the state of Indiana.

“We award the Best for Vets designation to the very best – the colleges that are setting the example,” said Amanda Miller, editor of Military Times’ Best for Vets rankings and special editions.

The Military Friendly® Schools designation is awarded to the country’s top colleges, universities, community colleges and trade schools that are doing the most to embrace military students, and to dedicate resources to ensure their success in the classroom and after graduation.

“Post-secondary institutions earning the 2016 Military Friendly® School award have exceptionally strong programs for transitioning service members and spouses,” Daniel Nichols, chief product officer of Victory Media and Navy Reserve veteran, said. “Our Military Friendly® Schools are aligning military programs and services with employers to help students translate military experience, skills and training into successful careers after graduation.”

UE has also received the following recognitions over the past year:

• Military Advanced Education – "Top Schools List"
• US News and World Reports - 8th among "Best for Veterans" list (Midwest)
• U.S. Veterans Magazine - “Best of the Best” Top Veterans Friendly Schools
