Residence Hall and Village Spring Check Out

How to Check Out

All students must schedule a checkout time and can register up to 2 helpers. Use this link to schedule a check-out time and register helpers: Check-Out Sign-Up.

Students moving out of their rooms or a village property will need to complete a self-check-out prior to leaving. To check out, students will receive a key envelop and instructions on their door on Reading and Study Day. If a student is planning on leaving prior to Reading and Study Day, they will need to visit the Office of Residence Life to pick up a key envelope.

Prior to completing the self-check-out, the room must be vacated and clean. All furniture must be back to its original configuration in the room. Students are to leave their keys in the provided envelope on the desk in their room.

Personal property left after checkout times will be removed from rooms and disposed of by the University. Students whose rooms require extra cleanup after checkout will be charged a minimum fee of $50; an additional fee of $50 will be charged for failure to check out properly, and a $25 fee will accompany the failure to return room keys. All charges will be assessed by the Residential Coordinator following check out.

Once notified of charges by email, there is a 30-day period to contest posted charges on a student's account.

Before checkout, we would like to remind all students to:

  • Unplug and clean your MicroFridge (if you rented one). The vendor will collect rental units from rooms starting May 11 (after students leave).
  • Contact your hall staff by posted deadlines if you want to use one of the storage closets.
  • Prepare your room – prior to your checkout appointment, your room must be vacated and clean.
  • Re-assemble all room furniture to standard configurations.
