Accreditation

The Master of Science in Athletic Training (MSAT) Program has been accredited since January 25, 2017, as well as carrying the undergraduate degree in Athletic Training since 2003.  UE had both programs for over eight years of continual service but is now solely focusing on the MSAT program.

This MSAT program is a two-year program that will start in the summer and then run for two full years from fall to spring with students performing clinicals. Students matriculating into the program must have a bachelor's degree, submit current information to the ATCAS system, visit campus, and fulfill the interview process to be selected for the MSAT program.

The Athletic Training program is designed for individuals seeking certification as an athletic trainer from the Board of Certification (BOC). Participants will engage in didactic coursework, clinical skill development, and hands-on practical experience.

To fulfill clinical hours, students can choose from a variety of settings, including Division I and II intercollegiate athletics, high school athletics, hospitals, and physical therapy clinics. Additionally, students have the opportunity to conduct research in the Dunigan Movement Analysis Lab, utilizing an interdisciplinary approach grounded in evidence-based practices. Immersive, out-of-state clinical rotations are also available through partnerships with universities such as Vanderbilt University, University of Missouri, and University of Florida. Explore these exciting opportunities on our Clinical Rotations page.

In our Athletic Training program, you'll benefit from small student-to-faculty ratios, ensuring personalized attention and mentorship from dedicated faculty who are invested in your development throughout your training.

The Commission on Accreditation of Athletic Training Education (CAATE) is the accrediting body which governs all athletic training programs. UE’s athletic training program has been accredited since 2003 and is accredited through 2031-32. UE previously offered a Bachelor of Science in athletic training, but only the Master of Science in Athletic Training will be offered in the years 2021 and beyond.

The University of Evansville is the smallest Division I CAATE-accredited school in the country. From their first week on campus, athletic training students are challenged with rigorous coursework and hands-on experience, including their involvement with UE's Division I athletic programs.
