Collegiate Changemaker Challenge
The Changemaker Challenge is dedicated to launching the world's next wave of social entrepreneurs and innovators. It encourages the brightest University of Evansville minds to compete in teams to solve our planet's biggest challenges with innovative ideas for sustainable initiatives, products, programs, non-profits or start-ups.
Changemaker Challenge 2017 Results
We are pleased to announce the results of the Collegiate Changemaker Challenge held February 20 in Eykamp Hall.
Eight UE student teams presented their ideas for social innovation before a panel of university and community leaders including Mayor Lloyd Winnecke and Dr. Thomas Kazee. The competition was free and open to the public.

1st place tie (Trip to Konstanz, Germany for a social innovation conference): Solar Innovators and the Changemaker Food Waste Project
Solar Innovators: Team is utilizing illuminated seating to create spaces which are attractive to the young people of Evansville. Team members are Andrea Onyett and Hannah Jaramillo.
Food Waste project: Team is working with the Evansville community in order to reduce local food waste and channel food to those in need. Team member is Bushara Ahmed.
2nd place ($1,000): Residential Revolution
Team is creating sustainable permanent-supportive housing to reduce homelessness in the Evansville area. Team member is John East.
3rd place ($500): Scholars for Syria
Team is engaging Evansville youth in an educational outreach program focused on Syrian culture and the current conflict in order to reduce stigma. Utilizing the research already conducted, this program can be recreated on other college campuses. Team members are Kendra Mehling, and Kristen Fowler.
