Global Scholars
The Global Scholars Program offers support for faculty engaged in scholarship or curriculum development that helps prepare our students and community for global leadership, citizenry, and success. The program is supported and administered by the Center for Innovation & Change and is made possible by the John H. Schroeder Global Scholar Endowed Fund.
Global Scholar Requirements and Timeline
The term for Global Scholars is one academic year (June 1, 2025 – May 31, 2026).
- April 25, 2025 at 8:00 a.m. Application Deadline.
- Mid May: Announcement of Global Scholar awards.
- June 1, 2025 – May 31, 2026: Global Scholars conduct work.

Funding Priorities
Although any global topic will be considered, priority will be given to proposals related to:
- Social Innovation or Changemaking
- UN Sustainable Development Goals
Additionally, proposals should:
- Encourage or highlight potential cross-disciplinary collaboration between departments; problems are not solved in silos (joint proposals are always welcome);
- Show how the project will help promote global experiential opportunities for students (how do UE students – current and prospective – benefit from this work?);
- Include a potential ChangeLab course idea related to the topic. IE: What’s the public application of what you might learn and how can students be involved? This can be just a paragraph or two about a seed of an idea, or a fully fleshed out course. When the ChangeLab is taught or coached would be completely up to the faculty member. Don’t hesitate to contact the CIC team if you want to brainstorm ideas!
The selection committee is composed of the deans of UE’s colleges, the executive vice president of academic affairs, the executive director of international programs, and the executive director of the Center for Innovation & Change, which administers the program. Prospective applicants are encouraged to discuss their ideas with the team at the Center for Innovation & Change and their academic dean to ensure a final proposal is aligned with the selection criteria.
