Lead, Distribution Services
The University of Evansville is seeking a dedicated and experienced Lead, Distribution Services (DS) to oversee the daily operations of Distribution Services, including Mail Services and Central Receiving. This is a full-time position with full benefits. The Lead will coordinate staff activities, ensure deadlines are met, and act as the liaison between the university departments, applicable vendors, and Distribution Services.
Key Responsibilities:
- Team Leadership: Oversee DS staff, including Central Receiving and Mail Services, and coordinate with student workers. Set priorities, provide training, and ensure the timely completion of all tasks.
- Operations Management: Support daily operations, including handling mail, packages, shipments, and special deliveries (USPS, UPS, FedEx, etc.). Ensure all items are processed, tracked, and distributed accurately to the campus community, including students.
- Financial Oversight: Assist in preparing journal entries for postage and supplies, maintain appropriate postage account balances, and coordinate DS inventory processes.
- Mailing Compliance: Ensure compliance with USPS pricing, regulations, and contract mailings. Oversee mail piece design reviews, job coordination with vendors, and ensure proper reconciliation of payments.
- Student Supervision: Hire, train, supervise, and approve timecards for student workers in the DS department.
- Equipment Maintenance: Ensure that all DS equipment (vehicles, forklifts, dock, etc.) is properly maintained and functioning.
- Vendor Relations: Ensure adherence to university policies and vendor contracts, maintaining strong working knowledge of applicable regulations.
- Other Duties: Perform additional duties as assigned to support the efficient operation of Distribution Services.
Qualifications:
- Education: High school diploma or GED required.
- Experience: At least 2 years of experience as a supervisor or team leader with a customer service focus.
- Forklift Certification: Forklift experience preferred or willingness to become forklift certified within the first 90 days of employment.
- Driver’s License: Must maintain a valid driver’s license at all times.
- Technical Skills: Computer literate, able to manage multiple tasks and stay organized in a fast-paced environment.
- Physical Requirements: Ability to lift and carry up to 50 lbs. Must be willing to work in all weather conditions.
- Confidentiality: Ability to maintain confidentiality and adhere to university policies and procedures.
