Overview
The Student Government Association offers multiple pathways for students to participate in leadership, representation, and campus decision-making. Students may serve on the Executive Board, in the Student Senate, or as a representative for a recognized student organization through the Assembly of Student Organizations.
Executive Board
The Executive Board serves as the executive leadership of the Student Government Association. Members oversee governance, funding, campus initiatives, and institutional representation.
Executive Board officers are elected during the spring semester in accordance with SGA election procedures. Certain positions may be filled through appointment and are subject to confirmation by the Student Senate.
Officers serve a one academic year term beginning at the conclusion of the spring semester and ending at the following spring graduation.

*For the upcoming academic year (2026-2027), SGA will assist in guiding the selection process for Senators. In future years, academic governance units may coordinate nominations through faculty leadership. Students interested in serving are encouraged to contact their department head or faculty within their academic unit and monitor SGA communications for selection announcements.
Assembly of Student Organizations
The Assembly of Student Organizations represents all SGA-recognized student organizations.
Each recognized organization designates an SGA Representative, typically selected internally through the organization’s leadership structure. This representative serves as the liaison between the organization and SGA.
Assembly Representatives are responsible for attending required meetings if the organization receives funding, maintaining organizational standing, and communicating SGA information back to their organization.
Students interested in serving as an organization’s SGA Representative should contact the leadership of the organization they are a part of or wish to represent.
University Committee Appointments
SGA appoints students to serve on various University committees in areas such as academics, finance, inclusion, athletics, curriculum, and student conduct.
Appointment opportunities are announced during the academic year. Students must be in good academic and disciplinary standing to be considered.
Attend a Meeting
Student Senate and Assembly meetings are open to all members of the Student Association. Students may attend, observe deliberations, and raise concerns during designated portions of meetings.
Meeting dates and times are available on the Student Government Association page on UEngage.
